Yap divers also offer a number of specialty dive certifications for those who want to expand their formal dive training, and is home to the only place in the world where you can do the PADI certified Manta Ray Awareness Course. The dive traveler is offered all that he or she could ever ask for in terms of dive experiences with regularly scheduled drift dives, wall dives, cavern dives and night dives, as well as our specialty - Giant Manta dives.

 For Yap, NITROX is perfect for both extending bottom time on the manta dives as well as the added safety and comfort associated with NITROX diving.

Although there is  a host of charted dive sites and a program to discover more dive destinations, the fun part is that more than 50% of Yap's reefs remain unexplored. It is often said that Yap is "World Class Diving's Best Kept Secret".

Uncrowded outer-reef Diving

Diving Yap's outer reef is a quiet, personal experience. With over 30 known dive sites and less than 100 hotel rooms on the entire Island, you are almost certain to be the only divers at your dive site. It is truly an awsome, personal experience.

Very few people know - or will ever know - Yap's reefs like the staff at Yap Divers. Most dive sites in Yap were discovered and named by us. Mi'l Channel, one of our premier dive destinations, is more than the "home of the Mantas"

The Manta Ray Bay Resort was built FOR divers, BY divers.  Harborside dive center, Yap Divers, has everything you'd expect from a PADI 5-star facility, and so much more. Yap Divers is a full-service facility with modern boats, rental gear, dive shop, camera bays, gear rinse and storage. Yap Divers dives all sites around Yap on a daily basis with up to 5 dives per day offered to our guests.

Plus, at the end of an unforgettable day of diving, it's nice to know that there are only a few dozen steps or so from the quay to your room or the bar aboard the S/V Mnuw, our 100 year old South Seas Schooner.

Comfortable, Quiet, Modern Boats

fleet of 8 fast, modern, twin engine dive boats ranging in size from 21 to 38 feet allows us to accommodate any individual needs, from private charters to fun packed group trips.

All our boats carry radio, oxygen and emergency medical kits for safety and our boat drivers know every nook and cranny of the reefs by heart.

After many years of faithful service we have retired our smelly and loud Yamaha two stroke engines, and upgraded to the new four stroke engines from Yamaha. Not only do the new engines have more power but they are environmentally friendly, no more smoke and noise pollution and they have much better gas consumption rates than the old engines. On your next dive trip with Yap Divers, we are sure you will agree with our decision to change engines, as you enjoy a quiet ride through the channels and mangroves telling dive stories to your new buddies.

We like our guests to be comfortable, so in addition to being fast and safe our boats were made to be comfortable. Smooth riding even in choppy seas, with sun protection and amply stocked with supplies like cold, fresh drinking water, hot tea and snacks. If you feel like indulging yourself, our chefs will set you up and make sure a delicious lunch is waiting for you on the boat between your dives.

Fresh-water Rinse Tanks & Drying Area

The dive center is equipped with three (3) fresh water rinse tanks for dive gear and two (2) dedicated fresh water camera rinse tanks. Our rinse tanks are even lighted at night so that you won’t misplace any gear! Adjacent to the rinse tanks is a fresh water shower to rinse the salt off of your skin and a drying area to hang your gear to dry.

Personal Gear Storage Bays

Each diving guest has their own, marked gear bay to store all of their dive gear.

Secure Camera Bays

No need to take your cameras back to your room! The dive center is equipped with 6, locking camera bays. Each camera bay has an adjustable, magnifying lamp and locked storage compartment. And for added security, the dive center is locked each night for your added peace of mind. But, rest assured that there is almost no crime in Yap to begin with.

Tanks and Rental Equipment

Our tanks and rental equipment are up to the same high standards. We don't like rusty, banged-up tanks and gear that's falling apart, so we use nothing but the best. We even have our own hydrostatic testing machine to insure the safety of each and every tank.

Our gear rental comes from ScubaPro and is completely replaced each November with entirely new gear.

NITROX is Available

We offer Nitrox diving, a great way to go since most of the diving here is ideal for Nitrox. If you would like to try but lack Nitrox certification we offer both TDI and PADI courses.
