 Getting to Laguna Beach Resort : For travel to Utila from the U.S. the main gateways in Honduras are San Pedro Sula and Roatan where connections are made with inter-island carriers who offer limited flights to the island. Entry and Exit Requirements : A valid passport with at least 6 months remaining from time of departing Honduras is required for entry. There is a $34.00 departure tax in Honduras. There are other incidental airport taxes with connecting local flights usually not exceeding $5.00. Suggestion: bring a few $1.00 bills for these fees and baggage handlers.

Guests should keep in mind that airlines traveling into Honduras allow 2 bags of fifty pounds per person as well as one one carry-on of forty pounds and one personal item. If your bags are over weight you will be charged $25-$30 extra per bag. During the months of Dec-Jan and Jun-Aug Honduras has what is known as an embargo period. During the embargo period you are allowed your carry-on and personal item and your two checked bags are restricted to fifty pounds each. If your bags are over weight they will make you leave things at the airport. Please keep this in mind when packing your bags!

Other Fees : There is a tourist tax of 10 Lempiras, $.50, upon departure from Utila when traveling by ferry. There is a $4.00/day reef tax to be paid by divers. The tax goes to the preservation of the Mooring Buoys and various in-town services.

The new, more popular gateway is Roatan. Continental and Delta Airlines have flights in on Saturdays.
