Palau Travel Planner

Aug 19-29, 2011

We hope that you will join us on an amazing journey to Palau. Here are some helpful tips and guidelines for your our Palau trip which is scheduled for August 19-29, 2011. If you have any questions at all, even the simplest of thoughts please do not hesitate to give us a call at 1-800-934-3483.

Our flight will depart from LAX on August 19th and will arrive in Palau on Nov 20th. It is very important that you check your local connections and leave room for delays. It is our suggestion that you arrive at the LAX airport approximately 3 hours prior to check in.

It is very important that you remember to bring your certification cards, Passports and your copy of your forms & waivers. I also highly recommend that you have both Dive and Trip insurance. We support DAN as our provider of choice.

We suggest that you travel with very comfy clothes. The kids can even wear their pajamas or sweat pants and slippers on flights. This is totally fine and most of the kids did this last year. Bring a travel pillow and some games, books, etc. Also, please remember each family member gets one carry-on and a purse or backpack so be sure to take advantage of this. Bring snacks and games as you have a lot of airport time.

If you need any medications, pack those as well in your carry-on. I know the trip to Palau is a long journey, but remember that your carry-on should contain everything you need in the instance that your luggage gets lost or delayed. Take in your carry-on any items that you cannot live without for two days. The hotel has a spa and plenty of products there so don’t weigh yourself down with things you will have available to you at the resort.

Other suggestions for your carry-on: 2 bathing suits, rash guard, 3 clean T-shirts, 2 pair of shorts, swim trunks, under clothes, flip flops, your dive computer, you certifications cards, tooth brush, rain jacket, hair brush, etc. If you have a special size wetsuit and won’t enjoy a rental suit, or have a special regulator that only works with your computer etc. then pack those in your carry-on to make sure you have everything you need to have with you. Remember liquids must be 3.4 oz or less and must be contained a clear zip lock baggie.

SASY and Seal Team kids will receive fins, mask & snorkel sets to keep, compliments of our new sponsor Body Glove. Leave your valuable jewelry and other non essential items at home.

Most of the Kids Sea Camp families are flying into LAX the night before since the flight is so early in the morning. Kids Sea Camp staff members are staying at the Marriott Hotel on Century Blvd. The phone number for the hotel is (310)649-1400.

The hotel you are staying at in Palau is the Palau Royal Resort and you will be diving with Sam’s Tours. The contact information for Palau is:

Email: marc@samstours.com (Marc Bauman)

If you need anything at all, before, during or after your trip please feel free to call or email me. You can send me comments and pictures and I will post them in our online photo gallery.

You will be arriving in Palau very late night on Sat. You will get a nice, friendly welcome by Dermot Keane and staff (from Sam’s Tours) and then you will be transferred to Palau Royal Resort. We will then get you checked in and all of your luggage will be taken to your room. You will enjoy a nice night’s sleep, rest well and enjoy the incredible breakfast buffet each morning at Palau Royal Resort. The dive boat will pick you up on the Palau Royal Resort dock after breakfast.

Kids Sea Camp provides your with a full week’s schedule of events. There is a tentative schedule included on our website for your convenience. Please note that this schedule is subject to change.

Palau uses US currency and no converters are required for electricity.  Your Kids Sea Camp package includes KSC T-shirts and hats and hope that you will wear them and enjoy them on your trip. We recommend wearing them for travel days as this will allow you all to identify each other in the airport and will help us to identify you quickly at the LAX airport.

If there are any special considerations for meals, boat assignments or anything else that you would like us to request for you, please let us know. Our Sasy and Seal Team treasure hunt is sponsored by PADI and Sport Diver magazine. We will also be giving away a SeaLife DC1200 digital Underwater Camera for the adult poetry reading. All our scuba programs are PADI programs and meet full PADI standards.

We can't wait to see you on the amazing family adventure!
